USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL

The Salute to Pearl Harbor Tour continues by boarding a navy shuttle boat operated by the US Navy at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. The boat shuttles visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial across the tranquil harbor waters. The USS Arizona Memorial is a somber reminder of the events that transpired on December 7th, 1941, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, killing 1,177 sailors and Marines on board the USS Arizona alone. The memorial sits over the remains of the battleship, with the names of all the sailors who lost their lives inscribed on a marble wall. Upon entering, visitors experience a respectful moment of silence to pay respects to those who lost their lives and to those who fought bravely during World War II.

ALOHA TOWER

The tour passes by Historic Aloha Tower, a landmark located in Honolulu Harbor. This tower was built in 1926 and served as Hawaii’s welcoming beacon for many years, as it was the first structure that passengers on ships entering Honolulu Harbor would see. It was also the tallest building in Hawaii at that time. Now, the Aloha Tower Marketplace, adjacent to the tower, stands as a cultural center and a site for local businesses.
